30 Day Project - Day 8

Well today for dinner is nothing too exciting. We are doing left overs, since we have food in the fridge that needs to be ate.

I did go shopping today and got quiet a few things. Something some of you might not know about me, is I love a good deal, and there were a couple this week, one on lunch meat (need to stock up for my baby girl who won't eat peanut butter and jelly, although it is a good after gym snack to get some protein) and one on deodorant (it was an awesome deal, I used as many coupons as I had, so I stocked up for a while and also to put in a 72 hour kit). Now the hubby said if there were good deals I could stock up, but just can't use what I bought this month and that way I wouldn't have to have it count towards my $100 for the month. But as of now I feel confident in my abilities and even with the things I bought, I can still do it (although I guess deodorant isn't food, but I'm going to ad it to my money spent, because you'll be shocked at how little I spent on it). We do have a tradition around here where we go out to eat once a month and take turns choosing where to go. I'm still up in the air on whether we are going to do that or not, because that will take a good chunk out of the budget, and we'll have to go some where rather cheap, so we'll see if I have enough left over towards the end of the month to cover that.

Here is what I bought:
1 head of lettuce $0.99
Nutmeg $0.69
Peppercorns $0.69
4 pack of Kraft Mac and Cheese $1.98
2 Gallons of Milk $1.98 each so $3.96
1 lbs. Black Beans $1.79
1 lbs. Black Eyed Peas $1.59
Italian Dressing Mix $0.59
Cream Cheese $1.19
Nectarines $0.98/lbs total $3.08
Onions $0.79/lbs total $1.41
Parsley $0.79
Garlic $0.50
7 packages of Carl Buddig Deli Lunch Meat, after coupon $1.29 each, total $9.03
10 sticks of Right Guard Sport Deodorant, after coupon $0.23 each, total $2.30

Total Spent at the store: $32.30

Money spent this month $52.80
Now some of you might be worried that I'm already half way done with my money and it's only the 8th! Never fear my friends! Looking a the things I need to buy for the rest of the meals I have planned for this month, it's about $15, and I don't need to go shopping until about the 18th, if my milk lasts that long. So that leaves me with about $37 to cover milk and fresh fruit and vegetables, and possibly a dinner out. I keep my finger crossed that the things I need go on sale, especially the hamburger I need to get.

An update since I posted this....I came across and amazing deal to stock up my food storage, that I just couldn't resist. So the total isn't going to go towards this months money since we won't use the things I bought this month, but if we don't go out to eat this month I could totally add it to my spending and still make it. I bought 24 cans of Libby veggies (12 corn, 12 green beans) and 6 jars of Skippy Peanut Butter for $6.03, the best part all the cans of veggies were free, so all I paid for was the peanut butter.

How fun! (or not, I can't decide)
I'm very curious to see if it can be done. There's not a chance in the world it would work at my house with a starving 15 year old boy. He eats us out of house and home!
But it would be fun to try. It would help me see if I could actually live on my food storage!
